Do different versions of ArcMap run the same tool differently? For example, if, using exactly the same dataset, I clip polygon layer A using polygon layer B in two different versions of ArcMap (9.1 and 10.4.1), will I get exactly the same output using bot

I am asking this question as I have two computers with two different versions of ArcMap - one at work and one at home. I have carried out my analysis thus far on my work computer, but for logistical reasons I am now unable to continue doing this and so need to switch to using my home computer. It is not possible to install the same version of ArcMap on both computers. I want to know if switching to continuing the analysis on the same dataset using a different version of ArcMap will make it unreasonable to merge all of the results later on.
