Georeferenced JPGs Do Not Retain Georeferencing Upon Export

I'm trying to build GIS floor plans of my organization and due to CAD issues, I am unable to create these directly from the drawings. To get around this, I've been taking screenshots of the CAD and georeferencing them so that I can trace out polygons manually. Not ideal but it has been working. I've recently been able to get some student employee assistance but due to licensing for ArcGIS still being up in the air, they have to use open source GIS like QGIS. I attempted to open up the georeferenced JPGs in QGIS only to find that the georeferencing appears to have not been saved. I attempted to convert these into TIFFs but at a huge loss in image quality. Any ideas as to how I should proceed?
