ArcGIS Pro and Importing an mxd question

I am trying to figure out a Pro conundrum. I imported an mxd into Pro with some little airplane symbols (supposed to be air tankers - of course :) ) and Pro rotated them so they look like they are dive bombing. I did not have the symbology associated with a rotation field, so I am mystified as to how that happened. I was able to rotate them back to something like where they should have been, but I don't want to have to do that every time I import an mxd. Any thoughts? Was trying to explore the Project Options  ==> Units menu and could not make heads or tails out of the Angular Units or Direction Units tables, or if they had any impact on the rotations or not.

This should not be occurring on MXD import and is something we would like to look at. The best path for that would be to submit an issue to Esri support services.
