3D mapping Soil Nutrients, Chemistry and Microbe Communities

I am going to be doing an academic project which requires me to take soil samples for laboratory analysis. Here are several questions which I need to understand.

  1. Am I correct in thinking the more sample locations used the higher the resolution?
    1. is there a tool in ArcGIS to create Sample locations to download onto a handheld GPS for fieldwork?
  2. I plan to drape these results over a TIN/DEM (is this the best way?)
    1. Do I need to create a different excel sheet for each depth and then use kriging tool for them and stack them draped of TIN/DEM ?
  3. Any advice for doing this with mixed microbe populations would be greatly welcomed.

1. More sample locations (points) are important to create a better surface. Check here to see about interpolation An overview of the Interpolation toolset—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop  

   i. Here the tool to create random poins (samples) Create Random Points—Data Management toolbox | ArcGIS Desktop 

2. I didn´t understand what you want.
