How can I return closest features to a given point?

Question asked by _lars_ on Oct 29, 2018

I have the WGS 1984 position 59.668850 (latitude), 10.303375 (longitude) from my mobile map application. Is it possible to query a layer with this position and get back the closest features in that layer?

I guess I have to tell the server that I'm using WGS 1984 and then supply the geometry, but how do I put it together returning the x closest features? Is that possible?

query: outSR=4326&inSR=4326&geometryType=esriGeometryPoint&geometry=59.668850,10.303375&supportsQueryWithDistance=true&distance=1000

The above query works as long as I don't include geometry, result is garbage but i get 200 OK. If i include geometry i get 404 Not Found.
