UtilityNetworkServer.queryNetworkMoments operation causes the service to crash

Question asked by vandervoort on Oct 10, 2018

From the REST API, when I call queryNetworkMoments on a UtilityNetworkServer , it causes the service to crash and throws an error to the ArcGIS Server log. I've submitted a case with Esri tech support, but they don't seem to be in a rush to help me solve this.

The operation is described here:

In the ArcGIS Server log I see: "Instance of the service '.<SERVICE>' crashed. Please see if an error report was generated in 'C:\arcgisserver\logs\\errorreports'. etc. etc.". When logging level is set to debug, there are no events logged prior to the crash, and after the crash, the log tracks the typical service startup.

A simple JSAPI application snags this 500 error on esri/Request:
