Import Arcpy module error

Hello there,

I am using ArcGIS 10.5 on Windows 7 64 bit machine with Python 2.7.15

I have reached the end of all the supporting documentation I can find to resolve this issue.

I have reinstalled ArcGis 10.5.1  and then 10.5– a clean install where I removed all traces of python (uninstalling via Control Panel and removing any folders with ArcGIS

and python in it). I am unable to import arcpy using the IDLE, although when I go to ArcGIS IDLE GUI, I can.

This works.

This does not.

In the second instance, I am trying to run a script held in one of the values in sys.path (i.e. “Working scripts”)

I have tried creating a PY_HOME variable, adding the path ways to the python modules to the Path environment variable, I have also added the path of the sys.executable into the PYTHONPATH variable i.e. C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.5\pythonw.exe

There is no python.exe registry created in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Python.exe.

I don’t know what else to try, so would appreciate someone looking into this. I attached a document of my workings out.

Thanks,
