I am installing a adapter in AWS but will need to rename it in a week once everything is converted. Is it possible to rename the adapter?
Updating the URLs for a deployment is not supported and requires considerable cleanup. What is the need to update it in a week? Is an environment currently active that uses the URL you want to switch to?
We are installing this week and testing next week. After that we are turningoff the DNS on one server and turning on the new one. The web adapter needs the same name for the code to work properly.
What you may want to do is set up another, temporary machine and install the web adaptor on it. Give it an entry in the etc\hosts file to tell it it's hostname matches the DNS. Add the entry to the new machines you're setting up.
Once you do that, you'll have isolated your new deployment so it doesn't use DNS to resolve the URL, but the etc\hosts file entry. You can create and test your deployment and when you're ready, remove the etc\hosts entry and update DNS.
