Best way for multiple machines to work on same Project?

Question asked by ibroad on Sep 4, 2018

We save our ArcGIS Pro Projects in a directory on our ArcGIS Server/Portal server that hosts the map services. This way the Project data is accessible to all staff just in case a change is needed and someone is out of the office.

However, I like to make changes to the map documents on my local machine and not on the server. Is there a way to use AGOL, or Portal as a central hub? So, you'd pull down the latest Project, and then upload and overwrite it after making changes?

Or what's the best way to have a central location for Pro Projects, but work on them from a local machine? I know I could share the server directory, but I'd like to avoid that.
