dGrid formatting

I am currently using a dgrid to return results from a selection.  I get the format below with a table looking structure

Field 1       Field 2      Field3

But I want to display these differently.... I want to place a small clickable Icon and then represent the rest of the data over 3 lines as seen below.

Icon (clickable)             Field2

Field2                           Field 3

Field 4 (the whole length of the grid)

I am not sure the best way to go about this...should I try and handle this with dgrid with css formatting?  Or should I switch to some other method?  Formatting in HTML....

Any suggestions?  Examples always welcome....

It seems that I can actually format the grid itself using a COLUMNSET?  Just wondering if there is a more efficient way to do this????
