Is it possible to migrate a model built in model builder from AcrGIS Desktop to ArcGIS Pro?
Yes ModelBuilder: migration to ArcGIS Pro
Although "migrate" isn't really the best word, as you shouldn't need to do anything to get your models to work in ArcGIS Pro. A few caveats are covered in the topic above:
1. Some tools are not supported in Pro, so if your model uses one of these tools you will need to fix the model or find an alternative in Pro: Tools that are not available in ArcGIS Pro
2. Some data types, namely personal geodatabases, are not supported in Pro, so if your model uses these data types the model will have to be updated.
3. One of the most common tools, Calculate Field, no longer supports VB calculations, so you will need to update your model to use Python or Arcade expressions instead.
Make a backup of the toolbox your models are in before using them in Pro, since if you make changes and save the models, they will no longer be able to be used in ArcMap.
That last comment is a big caveat if you are in a shop where you will still have ArcMap users for some time until you can migrate all users to Pro.
ArcGIS Pro Crash GPU? - See my new question - some toolboxes created in ArcMap crash Pro when opened in Pro.
I'd recommend running the Analyze Tools for Pro GP tool to see if it will run correctly in AGP. The output of the GP tool is a text file with error codes to use for troubleshooting and fixing prior to running in AGP.
That's fine, as long as the tool doesn't crash pro - see link above for more info, but yes I ran this tool and pro crashed without an error message or writing any information to the text file.
Malcolm - what's the make/model of your video card?
NVIDIA Quadro P4000, but this crash also happened on another machine - an older laptop with an NVIDIA 940M
Thx for the information Malcolm. Quick question for you - have you updated the video card driver on both PC's directly from NVIDIA's website?
