We're looking to build a GIS web server, and like anyone else, we'd like to be able to display hundreds of thousands of points with minimal lag.
The System Requirements page is anemic and comes with this honest but very frustrating disclaimer:
"For a production environment, minimum hardware requirements are not listed because the user and business needs of the software may vary. These requirements must be considered in determining hardware needs to meet performance and scalability expectations."
And as such here I am pinging the community
Any thoughts on a solid build? One business case would be displaying aggregate outage counts, the dataset consists of ~100k records, and we'd like to display the vector data.
I'd start here. The answer really is 'it depends'. No one answer is correct. There are many variables that have to be considered when doing capacity planning.
