All

i was trying to build a mosaic dataset and ran into an issue with the overlapping tiles used to create said mosaic.

I thought i had the mosaic operator set to max in order to choose the highest values when there is overlap to ensure that there would be no "empty" areas. i guess that is not the right course of action, could someone suggest settings to ensure that when two tiles overlap, the correct tile is chosen?

please see the attached image for a visual of what im talking about.

thanks

Dave,

I would recommend using the 'Build Footprints' tool from the 'Data Management Tools -> Raster -> Mosaic Dataset' toolbox. Set this to use the 'Radiometry' option so that you can define 0 value pixels as background. Then make sure in the 'Defaults' tab of the mosaics properties that the 'Always Clip the Raster to its Footprint' option is set to 'Yes'

finally got my mosaic to choose the appropriate tiles (data vs no data).

for some reason, i cannot calculate statistics for the mosaic. i have tried doing this at two separate times:

      1) calculate stats when adding rasters to mosasic db

      2) run the geoprocessing tool on mosaic to calc stats

both options have failed.

thoughts?
