Hello, I am new to the ESRI community (though, technically I have been using ESRI products for some time). I was hoping to get some professional advice and suggestions on the best way to approach a project that I was hired on to help complete.
I am creating multiple Events along a transportation network that represent certain project sites (some are point events but they’re mostly linear). Basically, what I would like to do is share these events in maps with select members of our project team so they can:
- Visualize each event/site location and its proximity to other features, landmarks, etc.
- Query (and possibly edit) multiple attributes for each event/site
- Navigate/drive to each event/site location
Now, I know this can be done with ArcGIS Server/Portal for ArcGIS but my experience with it is limited. My questions are:
- Would I publish using a Mapping Service or would it need to be a Feature Service?
- Would simply publishing from Portal for ArcGIS accomplish the above goals?
- What would be the advantage of using the Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS? (and would it be a problem if I don’t have much programming experience?
