Hello,

I am using Survey123 field app on iOS tablet device. I noticed when inspectors open up an inspection survey in the event they are logged out of the survey due to a long inspection, they will be able to pick up where they left off.

Is there any control of the time-out period where you can possibly adjust it to a longer duration, in those instances where the inspectors may not complete the data entry in the survey for a longer period of time? Please advise.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Alex,

The login period should be automatically renewing, though there is an issue when an iOS device is taken online, the login state will drop - does that sound like the workflow that is going on?

It is not ArcGIS login account issue if that is what you mention. It is when you open a new collect survey but haven't input any info or submit anything yet. You leave it open or switch to a different application on tablet device but then when you came back, it is disappear and it forces you to create a new collect survey again. Is there a way to leave it running when create a new collect survey? Becausee it is set up start time and end time hidden automatically. It is supposed to start time when create a new collect survey until submit to end time. Please advise.

Hi Alex,

In general, you should return back to the last screen displayed in Survey123.  How long is the interval between accessing the application?

James Tedrick Sometimes a few mintues and a few hours. This same person keeps having an issue time out. Inspector also stated that not only this survey123 field app on ipad. it is also other different apps time out as well. I think it is something with ipad operational behavior or not enough memory. Do you know any setting about this? Please advise. Thank you.

We currently have a BUG open ( BUG-000113293 ) that could relate to the behavior you describe.  Essentially, the Survey123 field app will log users out if the app remains disconnected from the network for a period longer than 30 minutes.  At this moment, BUG-000113293 is planned for our 3.1 release.

Hi everyone,

Just letting you know we have been working on the sign out issues when a device changes network, goes offline or the token expires and these issues have now been resolved in the latest Survey123 beta builds available on the Early Adopter Community (EAC).

We have also been working on the survey update notifications feature in the latest Survey123 beta builds and the new workflow will now alert the user in the field app when an updated survey is available, and be displayed on the gallery page, download surveys page and when trying to open a survey that has an update. This enables the user to do an update of the survey before proceeding to collect a new survey record.

Please test out the latest 3.9 beta builds and provide any feedback via the EAC user forums for the sign out issue and also the new survey update notification feature. You can find the 3.9 beta announcement with details on EAC.

Regards,

Phil.

Hi everyone in this post,

We have just updated EAC with the latest 3.9 RC2 builds which include further improvements and fixes to avoid user sign out when the device is offline or network connectivity changes constantly. Hopefully this resolves your issues detailed above.

Please check out the latest announcement and 3.9 RC2 builds on EAC here.
