Query Layer Registered as AGOL Item for Use in ArcMap 10.5.1

I was wondering if anyone has setup spatially enabled query layers in a non-SDE database where the items are registered in AGOL and then used as a datasource in ArcMap.

I started to test out this scenario and encountered some strange behavior at the beginning of my testing.  I brought the query layer into ArcMap from AGOL and I first opened the attribute table and went to the last record of about 225,000 records (took 3 minutes to complete).  I then used the Select by Attributes tool to select a subset of records.  Once the selection process was over and I saw that about 300 records were selected, I then tried to use the "Show selected records" button at which point the attribute table was blank even though 300 records should have been displayed.

Has anyone seen bizarre behavior such as this in any version of ArcMap and not just 10.5.1?
