Rendering text from a geodatabase

Question asked by tariston on May 23, 2018

Is it possible to show text as something other than an annotation from a .geodatabase file?

Our use case is converting an AutoCAD DWG via the ArcPY interface and then showing it via the .NET WPF Runtime SDK. Currently we are showing the text as an annotation, but this loses a lot of context since some of the textual information, such as size, position, color are lost.

We have experimented with using a unique value renderer, but this creates far too many combinations of symbols and the runtime performance is seriously degraded. We've also tried implementing our own Renderer, but since some of the core functionality is internal, this didn't seem possible. Any help would be appreciated.
