Interesting! No discussions on a great topic.

So any of you working on a trail database?

I’m working on one for all of Missouri - trails, greenways, and blueways. I’m using OSM to start but I’m new to ArcGIS Pro. I really need some tutorials. Any suggestions?

Josh,

I run the  Idaho Trails Map. The map work was done in ArcMap Standard with XTools Extension. I use X tools to calculate the mileage in a standard projection.

The map runs off a service located at our gis sever located at DPR/Idaho_Trails_Map (MapServer)

I then used ArcGIS Online Web App Builder to build the app after I configured the popups on my map in ArcGIS online. The web map is located at

https://idaho.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=f5f455c2c4d14496adc46ba2a1902dd1

I have a map package for download. The download is located at https://idaho.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=27b6c7f418ff4881abb9854d3fb9412d

The main reason that I do not use ArcGIS Pro yet is that the State of Idaho has not installed portal yet. You need portal to post to ArcGIS Server in ArcGIS Pro.

Jeff,

do you have something we could look at as sample in excel format or maybe a layout how to get started?

Josh,

Please download the map package at https://idaho.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=27b6c7f418ff4881abb9854d3fb9412d

Open the Project in ArcMap 10.6. Open the Toolbar, then conversion tools, then excel and then Table to Excel. It will ask you which layer you want to export.

Or in Pro – Search for the conversion tools and use the Table to Excel Geoprocessing Tool

For those interested....we have made a lot of progress collecting existing data by collaborating with National, State, Regional and Local agencies - now we move into our next phase of field collection for any gaps we missed. We're always looking for improvements to our site.

There is quite a bit of training out there on ArcGIS Pro. I am sure that Missouri Universities would have some training available.
