Zonal Statistics as Table unexpected outcome

Dear community,

I have some polygon shape files and some raster data (an index from [0,1]), I project both in the same coordinate sytem (USA Contiguous Albers Equal Area Conic). Then I get the zonal statistics with "Mean" and export the table. This works all fine in a loop over several files. However, the numbers I get are large numbers and not the expected averages between 0 and 1. Strangely enough I discovered that if I do not project the raster, which I assume to be wrong because it is in a different system, I get reasonable values. So I assume there is a problem with projecting the raster. Has someone an idea what I might be doing wrong?

Those are the functions I am using:

arcpy.Project_management(district, district_proj, out_coordinate_system)

arcpy.ProjectRaster_management(in_ras, out_ras, out_coordinate_system)

arcpy.gp.ZonalStatisticsAsTable_sa(district_proj, id, out_ras, out_tab, "DATA", "Mean")

arcpy.TableToExcel_conversion(out_tab, xls_output)
