Smart Editor Widget resets webmap layer symbology

Question asked by UDFCD. on Mar 29, 2018

I use smart editor in many of my web apps and I've noticed that if you edit/create features with smart editor, the symbology of your map layers are reset to the symbology as originally published. It will reset symbology that you've set at the webmap level and also symbology that you've changed through the visualization tab on your feature layer. Is there a reason that this happens? Is it by design? Are their any plans to correct the issue?

My specific issue is with adding transparency to the fill of a polygon symbol. I can only do this post publishing through the visualization tab in AGOL.

This is the symbology saved at the webmap level and feature layer visualization.

This is what the polygon symbology looks like after the first edit/create new feature with smart edit widget.
