JSON to make single class symbol transparent

Question asked by jhead@lakeworth on Mar 20, 2018

I have a feature service being consumed in a web map using the "counts and amounts" style for symbology.

I want to make one of the 5 classes 100% transparent. I cannot seem to do this via Web Map Viewer (it appears I can only chose some ESRI's color templates).

However, the work around may be to go into the webmaps JSON and update the specific class symbology there.

for example currently the items JSON is the following:

"type": "classBreaks",
                        "field": "Total",
                        "minValue": 0,
                        "classBreakInfos": [
                            {
                                "symbol": {
                                    "color": [
                                        254,
                                        237,
                                        222,
                                        255
                                    ],
                                    "outline": {
                                        "color": [
                                            110,
                                            110,
                                            110,
                                            255
                                        ],
                                        "width": 0.4,
                                        "type": "esriSLS",
                                        "style": "esriSLSSolid"
                                    },
                                    "type": "esriSFS",
                                    "style": "esriSFSSolid"
                                },
                                "label": "0 – 3 Cases",
                                "classMaxValue": 3

how can i add a transparency condition (100%) into this (it would be for the fill color I don't care much about the outline.)

its probably something simple like

"opacity:[100],

but I don't want to play too much with it before knowing the proper procedure.

and where would I place this so only the 1 class is transparent?
