I am running a large OD Cost Matrix (8000x8000). It takes some time, but after a while the system solves 99% of it.At this point, it freezes, and does not work anymore. What could be the problem? (I am not asking the system to draw any lines)
arcmap? ArcGIS Pro? if arcmap are you using 64 bit background geoprocessing? (although it doesn't seem to be supported)
Does it work with a smaller data set?
Is the data stored on a local machine or is it housed elsewhere?
Any other information regarding the machine and the work environment would be useful
I am using ArcMap 10.5.1 32 bit. The data is stored on a local machine (the machine has over 24GB of space available though). It works when I select a small sample of the data.
The data consists of 8000 cities, and a road network dataset. I want to be able to construct a matrix 8000x8000 with the cost of traveling across each of these cities (getting the usual output is okay, as I can convert it into a matrix with other software like Stata). When I load the locations with a search tolerance of 5 km some of them are not located (because they are not exactly on the network), so I increased the tolerance to 20 km to catch those. The OD Cost matrix freezes with AND without these extra locations that are not exactly on the network. The software doesn't show me any window indicating what the problem is, it just freezes once it reaches 99% and does not respond (the memory usage of ArcMap in the Task Manager also gets frozen).
Is there any reason that things are so far from the network? A 20km offset seems quite strange.
As for your setup. ArcMap uses 4 Gb on a good day. Disk storage space isn't a concern at all, but ram is. Try PRO if you have it installed since it is 64 bit and will use ram that ArcMap won't or can't
There are some cities that are pretty isolated from any reasonably-sized road, and minor roads are not drawn.
