Kill tool in Geoprocessing Service

Question asked by krobine on Jan 31, 2018

I am processing a clip on a large dataset using a Geoprocessing Service running asynchronously. The geoprocessing service is quite long and the clip is only a small piece of it.  But occasionally, the clip takes a very long time and the geoprocessing service hits my usage timeout. I wonder if there's a way to basically kill the Clip, but keep the service running, if, for example, the clip takes longer then some timeout period. Has anyone done this? I notice if I run the Geoprocessing routine directly in ArcMap, and attempt to cancel, it still waits for the clip to finish.
