"General" forums, keep 'em or kill 'em?

As time goes on, more and more threads are going into the General category instead of their appropriate thread.  As pointed out before, this may be due to user knowledge levels or most likely, users wanting the biggest audience possible.  During this time GIS -Stack Exchange, which runs a linear question list not threaded, is increasingly seeing ArcGIS stuff double posted there in a hope that one of the two forums will provide the much needed immediate answer.

As this drags on, is it possible for the hard-working ESRI staff (and I mean that sincerely) to provide some guidance as to when keywords (required input) will be used to direct threads or some other system?  For example, if a user posts a thread dealing with the Spatial Analyst, they will be required to enter keywords or tags so that the post will go to the correct sub-forum.  Barring that, is it possible to simply migrate them to the correct forum without that annoying "moved to" link in the inappropriate forum.

So....any suggestions on how to clean up the structure...remove the useless subforums...consolidate the less used one into "esoterica" since it is becoming more bloated and threads aren't being directed where they should.  I know the suggestion has been made to provide "moderators" which is good (Stack Exchange does this) BUT there need to be some mega-moderators (aka ESRI staff) to clean up the sludge on an ongoing basis.

Let the comments begin...at least this subforum will see some action...which it hasn't seriously seen in a while.
