Points along a line to numerical vector

I'm wondering if someone can help me and provide some guidance. I have a series of poly-lines which are overlayed onto (and identically follow) a coastline. To help analyse these I would like to turn these poly lines into a numerical vector or table to represent variation along the coastline. I can easily enough turn these poly-lines to poly-points, but after that, I am a bit stuck. How can I get the same starting point along the coastline and the corresponding value of each point along the coastline? How can I also represent gaps (matching the distance that the points are) to read as null?

Thank you for your help!
