When attempting to create new features in ArcGIS Pro, I keep receiving "Failed to create new feature(s)." My workflow is Edit > Create > I then select the feature I am attempting to create.
Hello @Aaron Lewis,
To narrow down the cause behind this error we will require more details which are as follows:
As well as, when hover the cursor over the error message what are the details being displayed, it would be great if you can share a screenshot of that.
Looking forward to your response.
I believe the issue stemmed from poor data management. It has since been resolved.
Thanks for the response. I am glad to know that the issue has now been resolved.
Have a great day and a Happy new year!!
I'm actually having the same issue, and it's not due to poor data management because I can create new features in ArcMap using the same dataset I'm trying to work with in Pro.
The dataset is housed in a local file geodatabase.
The issue is happening with point features and polygonal features. Line features work fine.
I'm the only user in my organization that uses ArcGIS products.
The version is ArcGIS Pro 2.3.1
As far as I know, it's appears to be localized to that project as other projects aren't having the same issues.
As you mentioned, this issue only appears to a specific project. If you create a new project and load the data into the new project again, are you seeing the same issue that "Failed to create new feature(s)."?
Since you are working with a local file geodatabase and the only user in it, I don't see a reason that stops you from editing unless the operation is not allowed. So this is more like a corrupted project.
If possible, can you share the detailed information when hovering the cursor over the error message?
The dataset behaves normally when loaded into other projects or in ArcMap. I can create features normally, so it's not a corrupted dataset, save, use them for analysis, etc. There's no pop-up that gives me any detail as to why the error occurred when I hover my mouse over it. The only possibility that makes sense thus far is there's something within that project that's preventing new features from being created.
The project is a watershed delineation analysis, and the feature class is the point features representing pour points. I don't think any of the tools would lock the feature class beyond completion of the tool.
It's very likely an isolated issue specific to this project alone, but still creates some unnecessary work-around.
