Optimize grid to remove excess point locations, ensuring coverage of area of interest. Each point has different radius

I have a grid that covers an Area of Interest (AOI). The X and Y distances on the grid are 20 meters as this is the minimum radius of influence of each sensor (point location). This is the worst case scenario for the network. I am running a model that will estimate the actual reach of each sensor (point location), resulting in a different radius of influence for each sensor. Each location will have a different buffer distance that is greater than 20 meters but less than 1 km. I need to optimize the grid by removing unnecessary sensors (point locations) so that the network retains complete coverage of the AOI but has minimal number of point locations based on the actual reach (buffer) of the sensors.
