Has this happened to anyone else? How to resolve?
did you save the joined shapefile and the data file to a new file to make it permanent first? and when you did the final selection, how were you exporting? from a selected layer in the table of contents? or from an open table.?
I just joined the table, then went to the table of contents, right click on the layer, then export data
It's been a while, I must be missing a step
You confirmed the join, (ie data was joined to the table... then flip back to the table of contents)...
but I bet you missed the step that when you specify the saving location you need to go to the bottom of the dialog and specify shapefile, and the saving location... otherwise it goes out as a featureclass in your default geodatabase... the test is if the output file has a *.shp file extension... if not, it isn't a shapefile
Thank you for the help. I'll give it a try now. I saved it a shape file before
Did you Validate Join to see how many records are matching? And how many records are visible in the attribute table of the Joined layer? Let us know if you come across any issue while validating Join (and not able to resolve it).
