I am looking at different ways to compress tiff images. Right now we receive roughly 1gb Tiff files. For some of our users, that is to big to navigate in CAD. So I have been converting them to jpegs using global mapper, which makes them significantly smaller. I looked into SID but after running a few tests, it looks like my way creates a smaller file size. For example I had a tiff that was 884 mb. After converting it to Jpeg it was 63 mb, but with sid it was 90mb
At what size does it become an advantage to have sid? Most of our images are going to be <1gb. I have only had 2 that were to big to condense to jpeg.
