hello everybody, i would like to ask about attachments, my question is : i have one attachment file , i need to use it withe tow different feature class, withe not duplicate it in the attachment table, it is possible or not?
I believe this is possible in a geodatabase but only if you use a Simple relationship: Relationship class properties—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop
Are you using ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro? Where would this data be consumed?
the point , one attachment file may be related to many buildings, so i need away to attached this file to more than one building , without duplicating in the attachment table.
thanks Carmel, i am using arcsde geodatabase, please can u give more explain about this.
I don't have access to an ArcSDE geodatabase soI'm not if the workflow I used will work for you.
I assume one of the layers already has a relationship to an attachments table in place? We can replicate it for the other layers using the relationship settings (right click the relationship item > Properties)
Right click on the geodatabase > new > relationship class > choose the new layer and the existing attachments table > the rest of the settings will be the same as the original relationship EXCEPT you need to choose a simple table, not composite.
You may need to work at making sure the Primary and Foreign keys are universal to all layers.
