Manhattan distance and Euclidean distance

Hello folks,

I am working on a project to measure the walkability to schools.  After having created a network dataset and service areas around the different schools, I wanted to make Manhattan and Euclidean distance on maps as well as calculations so that I can compute the Pedestrian Route Directness ratio afterwards.

Can someone kindly guide me through how to do the Manhattan distance and the Euclidean distance in ArcMap?  I intend to use the street nodes within the service areas as the origin points and the schools as destination points.  I am finding it difficult to do the Manhattan distance operations.

Thanks
