Pin-pointing animals on a map based on distance and direction from a car

Hi everyone!

I am quite new to GIS and have stumbled upon a problem I am having difficulties solving, and hope you can help!

I have an excel database with information on animals viewed from a car, on the left or right hand side of the road. The car would drive up next to an animal and take a measurement of how far the animal was, at a 90º angle from the car. I have the waypoint and GPS location of where the car was when the animal was measured, and the distance to the car the animal was viewed at.

I can’t find a way to convert this information into pinpointing where the animals were on the map! Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you all so much for your help!
