Auto-populate a field based on the result of the previous answer

I need to auto-populate a field based on the result of the previous answer (kind of similar to how "relevant" works, but sort of the opposite).  For example, employee names and unique employee IDs.  Once a name is selected, I'd like the next "question" to auto-populate with the related employee ID (read-only field).  It seems possible, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

You can use the pulldata function to lookup the employee name from an employee ID. The output of pulldata can be used in the calculation column of a note type of question, or a read-only text question.
