Another poster said that it should be possible to pan sharpen Landsat 8 imagery on the fly without duplicating data by adding the tiles using the Landsat 8 Raster Type, which "will add function chains to derive the pan sharpened product automatically." I have done this but I don't see any function chains added (ArcGIS 10.3.1). What am I missing? If I manually try to add a Pansharpening function, it seems that I have to generate a separate layer for band 8 to specify as the Panchromatic layer ahead of time, which does not seem like on-the-fly and it seems like there should be some other way from what other people have written. I installed the Arcgis 10.3 raster type patch thinking that would clear up the problem but there was no difference.
