clr.dll (ArcGIS crashes while opening *.mxd and *.gdb)

Question asked by kelvinsartorius on Mar 27, 2017

Hi,

I'm having trouble with accessing files using both ArcMap and ArcCatalog. They both seem to be crashing after trying to acces a certain *.gdb file. Apart from this all *.mxd files that created before the problem occurred are crashing the application while being opened. However that's not the case for newly created files.

Below I pasted the error message that I got(german):

Problemsignatur:
Problemereignisname: APPCRASH
Anwendungsname: ArcCatalog.exe
Anwendungsversion: 10.5.0.6491
Anwendungszeitstempel: 581b945a

EDIT:

I repaired ArcGIS installation with Setup -> Repair, but it hasn't solved anything.

Apart from this I tried using ArGIS Earth Repair (although I'm not sure if this  makes sense) but it crashes as well, showing following message:

Problemsignatur:
Problemereignisname: APPCRASH
Anwendungsname: ArcGIS_Earth_Repair.exe
Anwendungsversion: 0.0.0.0

While repairing the *.mxd file with MXD Doctor I got following error message:

Problemsignatur:
Problemereignisname: APPCRASH
Anwendungsname: MXDDoctor.exe
Anwendungsversion: 10.5.0.6491

So summing up:

Some *.dll files are causing this problem (clr.dll, KERNELBASE.dll and MSVCR120.dll). Is there any fix, patch or update  for these files?
