I am using Portal for ArcGIS along with WAB to develop a webmap. I want to extend the app by downloading the code. My portalURL is https. When I download the code from pre-designed app fro WAB, it wont show the map screen. I believe reason behind this is use of HTTPS in portalURL. I will be happy to share more details if required.

A couple things..

First, the Online vs. WAB dev edition vs Portal tend to be out of sync as far as versions and compatibility.  Online gets updated first, dev edition about 4-6 weeks after, and Portal less often.  So it is possible that the versions are not compatible.

Second, although I am just getting into testing Portal myself and have not tested with WAB at all, WAB developer edition needs to be registered and have a appID from either Online or Portal.  I have only done this thru Online, but I'm assuming that you will want to register you WAB machine as both http and https.  That may help.

The help has improved in explaining this, but for some (older) tips, check out /blogs/myAlaskaGIS/2015/01/15/tips-and-observations-for-getting-web-appbuilder-developer-edition-ins...

and for many WAB links and tips /blogs/myAlaskaGIS/2016/03/09/web-appbuilder-developer-edition-customization-resource-list?sr=search...
