I am using GIS 10, i made a shpfile from XY coordinates and i also have an CAD's points file, i made a shpfile from CAD's points file also but when I added them in to ArcMap i just can see one of them. I need help. thanks for your replies.
IF you have followed the steps as mentioned in How To: Import XY data tables to ArcMap and convert the data to a shapefile, the points should have been correct (Take care about defining the appropriate coordinate system).
Are the shapefiles, that have been imported from CAD files, georeferenced?
Could you attach the screenshots of the extent of the two shapefiles (In ArcCatalog > Open properties of shapefiles > Feature Extent > XY Extent)? Also mention what coordinate system have you used for the two shapefiles.
thanks for ur reply I did all of them correctly. but still even when wana check XY coordinate with GO TO XY tool but still it shows different location, for example the coordinate which i entered in GO TO XY (in green) should be in location of point which i selected from attributive table( in blue). but it is shows different locations.
the coordinate system of your data frame seem to be reversed. It looks like the first file you added to the dataframe had them switched setting its coordinate system wrong
