How to calculate waterlevel from a given volume of water in a basin using DEM?

I have a DEM of a basin and am assuming that the basin is water tight. I need to calculate the water level when a certain volume of water is released into the basin.  I have ArcGIS Advanced with spatial analyst and 3d Analyst.

Has anyone the correct methodology for such an analysis?

Hello,

We've recently released a new tool with the Spatial Analyst Supplemental Toolbox. This tool is called Storage Capacity. This blog post describes the features & offerings of this tool.

Once you have a basin delineated from your DEM, you can use the Storage Capacity tool to obtain an Elevation - Volume relationship as a table output. Using this relationship, you can obtain the water level (or elevation) for a given volume of water in a basin.

Thanks,
Neeraj
