Have someone imported DICOM images into ArcGIS successfully?

If “yes” than how? These images are “slice rasters”, a special type of medical remote sensing, so they can be interpreted as point cloud or series of rasters.

After a quick perusal of the wiki page for Dicom image format, I very much doubt it.

Convert the DICOM images to TIFF.  You should be able to witho something like Ginkgo CADx.

Luke is probably got a good multiplatform suggestion, but the wiki link has others DICOM - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and a more generic data specification to enable you to fine-tune what you need out of what you have.  It appears you need to get rid of all the surrounding information and just deal with the geometry since nothing will be remotely compatable with gis tabular formats used in analysis.
