Legend: what is visible in current extent only

Has anyone created or come across a custom WAB widget that when the user prints...the legend only contains feature types from a layer that are visible in the extent? I have a layer with many types of features(therefore symbologies), but when my users print I only want the legend to have what is currently visible.

   I have not seem a widget that accomplishes this, or heard of any developers that have such functionality in the works.

Ahhh... I was hoping someone has or was thinking about it. I am just getting my feet wet, but this is something that I could really use and I feel that others would benefit from it too. I honestly, don't know where to begin.  I am surprised that this functionality is not out of the box.
