Non-Administrative User Error

We have our SDE maintenance scripts that run nightly, and we will randomly receive an error that the script cannot continue because the connection file is utilizing a non-administrative user.

The connection file is utilizing a sysadmin account, so there should never be any issues with administrative rights.

Sometimes the error will occur at the very beginning of the script, and other times it will occur several steps into the script.

Has anyone else come across an issue like this?

Our SDE is 10.2.2 with a SQL back end.

We have the script running from a VM that has ArcGIS 10.4.1 installed because we utilize some GP functions in our nightly script that are not available in desktop 10.2.2.  Could the issue possibly be something related to a 10.4.1 machine connecting back to a 10.2.2 SDE? Could it have something to do with the scripts being run from a different server than where the SDE is housed?

The kicker is that if the script fails, I can immediately log in and re-start the script by hand and it will run successfully.

There does not seem to be any rhyme/reason to when the error occurs.  It happened 3 nights in a row last week and then worked for multiple nights and then occurred again last night.

Any insight would be helpful.

Thank you,

Brian
