My organization has an ArcGIS Online Organizational account. From ArcMAP, we want to use the geocoder service through this account. Before we do that I'd like to understand how information is protected. If we have a file that contains both address data and some personal identity information and we use that file to geocode then what actually gets sent to the geocoder? Is it just the address fields or would the whole file with personal identity information get sent across the connection? Thank you.

If you are worried, make a copy of the file, delete any private information, do the geocoding on that file.  When done, join the original file table back to the geocoded file, then save the result and you will have the best of both worlds
