Hello, I cannot figure out whether a signature file is using every band in a composite variance-covariance matrix. If the composite band includes all landsat 8 bands (coastal, red, green, blue, near-IR, SWIR, etc) in the MTL file and I create a signature file for maximum likelihood, ISO, or SVM classification, will the classifier use every band in the composite to classify? Or will it only use the values I identified with the current band composite (those bands which are currently showing in each channel such as red, green, and blue)? Is the interactive supervised classification also using all bands in the training samples or only those values showing in the current channels?
How many bands will classifiers use from the signature file/training samples? Is this strictly dependent on the composite?
Any help is appreciated.
Well the signatures help says this :
So, I guess that it will use all the bands that you give it.
as for interactive classifying, no signature file is required Interactive Supervised Classification tool—ArcGIS Help | ArcGIS for Desktop but in this classifier all bands are used Executing the Interactive Supervised Classification tool—ArcGIS Help | ArcGIS for Desktop.
To limit bands use, you have to do it ahead of time Creating a subset of bands for the classification—ArcGIS Help | ArcGIS for Desktop
