how to apply synchronization to only 1 tab

Hi, I am using the synchronization option in story maps - series, but I seem to have a problem if I want some, but not all of the slides in the series to synchronize. Is this possible (hopefully without installing the API editor) ?

Similarly, can I apply the locator map to one slide but not all?

Both of these would be very helpful when making a story map that starts with an "overview" map and then zooms into to a specific location on the map.

Hi, We don't offer either of those options in the hosted Story Map Series, but especially the first option would be a good enhancement. One thing you could do as a workaround is to create a Story Map Basic app for your overview map and then display that, using the &embed parameter to hide its header, in your Map Series:

If you are willing to customize the app you can apply the technique described in this blog post to add an index map.

There is also this example of a Map Series that has an index map as one of the tabs. The code for that is on the public Map Series repository on GitHub.

Hi,

I think I found an easier way of doing this - using a photo image of the “overview map” on the first tab of the story map, and then using synchronized maps on all subsequent tabs.

Thanks,
