We upgraded desktops from ArcMap 10.1 to 10.3.1 and now the time it takes to open an .mxd has increased from 30sec. to 2:30 minutes for user accounts who have access to a lot of feature classes (several 1000s) in our geodatabase. User accounts who have access to much fewer feature classes (~100) do not experience this performance decrease with ArcMap 10.3.1 .
Geodatabase is version 10.3, Oracle 11g (issue exists on oracle 12c as well). It seems as if ArcMap 10.3.1 is reading the Oracle data dictionary at connect into something. Does anyone else observe this? Is there a way to prevent this from happening? (registry or environment setting, etc.)
