Initial extent of work area in ArcGIS collector

Hi all,

What defines the initial extent of the "work area" that i am allowed to chose when i am taking a base map off line in collector?

Can that initial extent be changed? if so how? and why can i not chose a larger extent then what the initial extent is set too?

I was having the same issue. I was able to fix it by changing the extents of the layers that make up my base map in SDE. Then overwriting the map service.
