I have shapfile for some places road that is both sides lines and center lines. I want width of road from this data.
is there any option to take out width of road lines.
Some factors influencing an appropriate answer
Dear Dan Petterson,
I have projected data of roads of one area that is in vector format.
I have Arc map 10 license.
I have specific place road lines for that i want width. accuracy should not be high but it should be correct.
with simple measure tool it will take time manually I want any direct idea because I dont have time do manually.
First, I would suggest using select by attributes to limit your scope to only those locations/features that you need the results for. Secondly, you options are limited given your license level and available extensions. The proximity tools that are available limit you to buffers Proximity analysis—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop
whereas something like the Near tool would be appropriate and even the Collapse Dual Lines To Centerline—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop to give you a headstart since I presume that the road offsets were created from the centerline or visa versa. With some scripting you could get adequate results without a doubt Near Analysis: ArcPy vs. NumPy/SciPy and there are other threads detailing how to emulate Near without the appropriate license.
