Considering existing 10.3 ArcGIS for Desktop we have questions on future of ArcGIS pro. If we plan for next 5-10 years for Desktop GIS system,  can we suggest to our client that they can use ArcGIS pro as a Desktop GIS system as I am afraid that after 1-2 years ArcGIS pro may get expire? Please give us life background on this?

Hello,

Thank you for your question.  The answer is yes, you can tell your client that they can use ArcGIS Pro as a desktop GIS.  ArcGIS Pro will not go away after 1-2 years.

Here is a link to the support life-cycle document for both ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro:  http://downloads.esri.com/support/product%20life%20cycle/arcgis_desktop/ArcGIS_PLC.pdf

Please note that ArcGIS Pro 1.2 will be released in the coming months and it too will be added to this list.

Most importantly, the development of ArcGIS Pro will continue beyond this coming release as Esri anticipates 1-2 full releases of ArcGIS Pro per year.

Thank you,

Woody

The Esri Desktop software development teams have an immense investment
in ArcGIS Pro.    ArcGIS Pro,  and ArcMap for that matter, will continue to
ship for the foreseeable future (i.e. many years) as the most capable and
critical desktop applications within the ArcGIS Platform supporting
Professional GIS use for visualization, data editing, spatial analysis, content
creation and much more.
