Does the SQL Server 2012 'contained databases' (see Contained Databases ) fit the system requirements of the Enterprise Geodatabase / ArcSDE?

I see a reference to NIM089518.  A quick google search as well as a search on the ESRI reveal no other results (besides this Geonet post).  Is this information available internally only to ESRI staff or is available to end users like myself?

FAQ: Does ArcGIS support SQL Server partially contained databases?

For details regarding NIM089518, you need to contact Esri Tech Support. I don't think that NIM was published publicly.

Are contained databases a concept recognized solely in SQL Server?  If not, does Oracle support contained databases and at what version of Oracle are contained databases recognized?

Good question, I'd also like to know this.  While I admittedly am more focused on the SQL side of things (hey we're a SQL shop! haha), I'm curious about Oracle as well.

  • A new option in Oracle 12c, called Multitenant Architecture, consisting of a container database that can hold many pluggable databases, is supported at the pluggable database level. ArcGIS supports the same functionality in pluggable databases as is supported for Oracle 11g R2.
