These forums don't seem to come up when I google a question. I get questions and answers from the old forums. It seems like Geonet gets less action because of this, or is it just me?
You could of course include the word Geonet in the search and it would help focus the returned searches with more Geonet-centric search results.
I'm not really sure how it rates, its generally highly dependent on the type of topic names people are putting when asking questions, which I feel have been getting worse lately. Unfortunately Geonet's internal search leaves much to be desired, even with the tagging systems in place. I can find Geonet results to many searchs without including Geonet in the search, I will get old forum versions results and stackexchange, but generally if there has been a relevant topic in Geonet, it comes up pretty quick in the search results.
You also have to keep in mind Geonet is now a little over a year old now? Not a huge amount of type to build up a repository of threads(even with the ones from the last forum version).
So for my experience, they show up, but how highly they get rated as a result by google is dependent to how well people create the topic.
Could you provide some examples of the searches that are not providing results? I find the same results as Ian Murray. Google drives the majority of traffic to GeoNet, and I try to keep SEO in mind for the community.
Just a heads-up, if you are interested in searching only Geonet responses from Google, try running a Google query like this:

Alright I have been having more success querying Geonet. Thanks for the tips.
